The Ashley series by Uncle Jim.

I'm trying to remember the name of the story, but having memory issues. The story with a bubble I remember is about a fellow who buys a container to build into a house to live on a piece of land and one night a meteorite crashes into the woods nearby. It turns out to be a small craft from a larger spaceship that was damaged and the aliens onboard are dead, but the AI is still alive. When the US Military learn of the technology he has they attack and he has his workers retreat inside a protective bubble created by the alien technology he's slowly letting out to the world.
Is that the one you're thinking of?
Think this is the story you mean, Ernest.

I'm sure you're right, as I thought it was one of his stories, but the story description didn't ring a bell, and for the next 18 months I dare not open any story with any sexual graphic descriptions in it. So I couldn't check it out in detail.
I don't know the history behind that comment, but if you're worried about text getting you into trouble, it can't be a good history.
Can I assume you ran afoul of the thought/PC police?
No, he ran afoul of real police.
Who are total idiots and have wasted about $100,000 of police and court resources on material that was lawful when I received them, but have since become unlawful with a law change the state government never publicized.
Who are total idiots
Of course, they work for the government. If they weren't idiots, they could get real jobs.
Can I assume you ran afoul of the thought/PC police?
Correct, most of the story is in here on SoL and the last part still to play out is back in court again tomorrow to try and get my computer and files the Gestapo agree are legal but don't want to give back because they think something may be hidden in them.

That's f***ed up. By that law, several points of interest as found in national museums (Louvre for instance) would be considered illegal.
The Magistrate explained the different Interpol categories types in assessing the material of the charge which are now used by the NSW Police and Courts.
That in particular got my attention given they are based in Lyon, France. Interpol agents should take a train up to the Louvre with a crate full of handcuffs if that's the case.
Boiling it down in my mind, it sounds like some overzealous asshat stepped on their meat and are trying to cover their arse.

Yeah, that doesn't mean what you think it does.
I had a hard time digging it up, it's not on interpol's own website. But I found it in this document https://www.sentencingcouncil.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0017/531503/cem-final-report-july-2017.pdf
INTERPOL Baseline
Note: According to the Interpol website, this baseline is material that would be illegal everywhere.
Depicts real prepubescent child (under the age of 13 years approximately),and the child is involved in a sexual act, is witnessing a sexual act or the material is focused/concentrated on the child's anal or genital region
Jurisdictionally defined CEM not classed as Baseline
Files that are illegal according to local legislation, either by way of age or content
Related non-illegal files
An image that forms part of a CEM series, but which is not in its own right illegal, although it may contain important clues or identifying information to assist investigations in relation to category 1 or 2 images
Ignorable
All other (legal) material which does not fit into categories 1โ3
If EB is being honest about all the relevant materials having been legal when he obtained them, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, all the material at issue has to be category 2, which means the change in legality is strictly due to changes in local law, NOT to use of the Interpol classification system itself.
Anything under 13 would be illegal. That was understood.
I'm going off of what Earnest reported as dovetailed with training I received on the subject. There are multiple points of law that are interpreted differently depending on the country in question. Things that are legal in the states are not necessarily legal elsewhere and vice versa.
Given the ages reported by Earnest, it means exactly what I thought it did. Start digging around here and you'll see what I mean.

Um, no the Interpol baseline specifically says prepubescent, not a specific age. 13 is not necessarily prepubescent, in fact, 13 probably isn't prepubescent. At least 80% of kids will have at least started puberty by 14.
On top of that:
1. simple nudity, even for prepubescent kids would not be covered by the Interpol baseline. They have to be engaged in sex acts, watching sex acts or the image must be focused on the genital or anus.
2. Must be depictions of real children. Kind of hard to prove that a painting (rather than a photograph) depicts a real child. Particularly if the painting is more than a century old.
Given all three criteria, I would be rather surprised if you could find anything in the Louvre which would genuinely fall under the Interpol Baseline.
I don't get why you think that Interpol would or should act directly on anything not covered by their baseline, even in France, I would expect they would leave cat 2 materials to the local authorities.
13 was based on this from your earlier post;
Depicts real prepubescent child (under the age of 13 years approximately),and the child is involved in a sexual act, is witnessing a sexual act or the material is focused/concentrated on the child's anal or genital region

Based on the description Earnest gave and the subjective interpretation utilized by his local law; there would be plenty to bust people at the Louvre. You made the assumption I supported the idea, which is false. You need to go back and read it again within context. The point with that comment was, the Magistrate used what appears to be a twisted interpretation.
The Magistrate explained the different Interpol categories types in assessing the material of the charge which are now used by the NSW Police and Courts.
You will have to argue with the wall next, as you appear to just want to be deliberately obtuse.
ased on the description Earnest gave and the subjective interpretation utilized by his local law; there would be plenty to bust people at the Louvre.
Ernest is in Australia, not France. And the charges against him were based on local law, not the Interpol baseline. So nothing there is relevant to the Louvre.
which means the change in legality is strictly due to changes in local law, NOT to use of the Interpol classification system itself.
Exactly. The old law required sexual activity, the new law does not. Thus the photos from nudist magazines of people on a beach where children are also visible were lawful and now unlawful. The vast majority of which had Commonwealth Censorship classifications and still lawful, but not all.
Also, is the aspect of appears to be under 16 y/o yet there is no definition of what that constitutes. The cops tagged as unlawful some photos of a 19 y/o model because they thought she looked like she was under 16 y/o.
By that law, several points of interest as found in national museums (Louvre for instance) would be considered illegal.
True. In the Albury Art Gallery, which is around the corner from the Court House and their back doors almost open out onto each other, hang a bunch of photos of a 13 y/o nude girl in black and white which have a Commonwealth Censorship classification and thus legal. The photos in question are what started the multi-year committee which resulted in the changed law.
Boiling it down in my mind, it sounds like some overzealous asshat stepped on their meat and are trying to cover their arse.
True. Especially after he realized he hadn't broken a major child abuse ring and wasn't going to get the promotion he was after.
That is a sad commentary on the current state of society. Remember not to open the Old Testament, if you're so inclined. Would not want the thought police to hound you again.

I can't even revise or make updates to some of my own stories. Even have to be careful of documentaries and blooper videos.
Idiocy knows no international boundary. Every village used to have an idiot, now most countries seem to be populated predominantly by idiots. Ernest is just one many suffering the ramifications of that rising demographic.

No, it's just that the idiots predominantly work for the government and the government predominantly employs idiots.
