I guess the post's subject says it all. Thanks for any help locating it.
I think you are looking for 2 stories by https://storiesonline.net/a/Graybyrd called https://storiesonline.net/s/69867/masishen-stranded and https://storiesonline.net/s/73776/masishen-evolution
Hope they are what you are looking for.

Or.. John Carpenter.
I sort of like the 1951 original better. Come on, Sheriff Matt Dillon (James Arness) as the monster? Gotta love it.
Although I admit Carpenter stayed truer to the book.

Sure... if you are scared of a walking asparagus stalk.
Thanks Lonny, those are the ones. Funny they didn't showed up in a site search for "Antartica".

My bad, mispelled "Antartica" instead of "Antarctica" (english is my second language). As I got some hits, it didn't ocurred to me to check the dictionary.

It could have been worse, you could have gone for Aunt Arctica. :)
Aunt Arctica
Or Auntie Social. I call our social room our Uncle social room, because nobody wants an antisocial room.
Or Auntie Social.
I have chronic respiratory allergies, so I have to spend lots of time with my auntie who is mean.

Just because you're a native English speaker doesn't mean you can spell.

Very true. If I could spell... I'd be a witch.
:)
LOL.. I'm not Connie
No, but you must be a Monty Python fan, or that joke would probably have gone over your head.
I "effing" love the Masishen stories. I am waiting patiently for the next story. As a matter of fact, I think a reread for this weekend is totally in the works!
Woo Hoo!

Totally agree there. I think I will start rereading them too and for good measure follow it up with his very good story Pasayten Pete.
Totally agree there.
Thanks, Keet. (See my reply to shinerdrinker.) I'm busy again, and have a lot of catching up to do.

And that, my friend, is the highest praise any author could ever hope for. Thanks! And accept my apologies. I'd fallen into a slump, and stopped for a while. Now I'm hard at work on a new project, using NaNoWriMo as a 'nudge' to get a complete draft hammered out. It will get posted here when ready.
As for the Masi'shen series, I will extensively edit and clean 'em up, and find a sensible conclusion for the trilogy. I have also drafted the story "Gold Mountain" as a follow-on to Pasayten Pete, and that too, will get edited and posted.
Next July will be my 80th, but sufficient little gray cells remain (as Hercule Perot would say) to engage one another and still remain coherent. Muse willing...
Sorry to be late the party, but I just saw this thread. The stories are the "Masi'shen" series, under my nick "graybyrd" -- thanks for asking.
In the sequels to Magestic by GWResearch (Geoff Wolak) which are available on Amazon, that's a prominent plot point.
Side note- the Magestic Trilogy is EXCELLENT

If he put them on Bookapy I would buy them immediately.
