I am trying to remember this. The name Clotilda comes to mind but nothing comes up on my search. The feline race was actually a secret program to try and end the war by bonding with the humans.
In the end they made them planetary governors if I recall.

With no sex involved, it might be. However, since the question was asked here, I highly doubt it.
IIRC there was a Man-Kzin wars story involving sentient Kzinrretti helping out a human. There may have been some very careful grooming.
Sentient females being killed at birth by the Patriarchy, they had reason to help a human.

I'm with ciglehart66 and kuhpa01. I'm pretty sure the OPs looking for Upon a Savage Shore by Ripperfish over at that other place, lol. It features all the requested elements. The author also wrote a couple of other tales in that Universe (I think the others are incomplete at the moment).
There is another story like Savage but only one enemy and one human. I don't remember any animals in that story either.
He mentions "females" so it's not Kita'thalla as she's the only female and the male MC doesn't kill anyone, he actually gets his ass kicked by the only other remaining male who's already been injured. It's gotta be Upon a Savage Shore.

You're correct. Bad recollection on my part regarding the remaining male. I should have noted one female rather than multiple females in my original response.
