Any help would be much appreciated; About all I can recall is a guy sees two men throw a carpet or maybe a blanket into a lake and when he goes to see why a woman's hand reaches for him and he rescues her. Don't even remember where I read it but pretty sure it was on SOL.
Thank you for the response but that isn't the one, kinda seems she was dumped by the mob, maybe because she ratted one of them out? It's been a few years since I read the story and my memory isn't what it used to be.
In the "Second Chance" epic, the MC is on his boat (small yacht) and sees a couple of guys stop a car on a bridge, open the trunk and pull out a rolled up carpet, which is wiggling. They toss it over the rail, watch it splash, then take off. He dives in with his handy knife and cuts her free in the nick of time. Good story.
