I am searching for a multi-part story about a man who was forced into the lowest ranks of the Marines as a lifer who could never retire unless killed. However, he fights the invading bugs, dragons, etc. so well that he becomes the most efficient killing machine the Marines have serving.
This Marine has his female CO fall in love with him.
This Marine also slowly develops ESP to help him in battle.
The battles are fought on alien planets as well as in space.
I thought that the name of this story was something like Gung Ho, or some other MArine type slogan.
Any help in identifying this story would be much apricated.
