I read this story a few years ago so details are spotty. MC ends up in middle to late 1800's in Oregon I think. He was an engineer of some kind I believe. Invented some things used his knowledge of the to plan ahead for good and profit. Worked small known (at that time) gold strikes in southern Oregon/Northern California to fund things.One of the things he did was to develop and manufacture a drug to help reduce the affects of a plague he knew was coming to San Fransico or that area. that is all I can definitely remember.
