looks like I mixed two or more stories in my mind >.<

at first I thought it was in "giants in the sandbox" but if most of the scenes are indeed in it the one I was looking for is not so I need your help to sort the mystery ...

in a post apocalypse world (IIRC) military or former military (75% sure of that) raids the storage of military camps to get supplies and finds a bunker with people in it, they talks but from the way the man speaks and describes who is in the bunker he realize that the ranking officer must be a woman and the man talking her underling and the man is talking to protect the women with him ...

IF I recall correctly which is just a remote possibility they ends up turning most of the military bases into farms

any ideas ?

I remember reading a scene similar to what you describe in a couple of stories, both are post apocalyptic stories that are long and the scene is well into it. The one I can remember the most about is one by cmsix in his Nanoverse set of stories where the original main base is a farm in Texas, the other is where the main base is a town in the mountains. In both they visit military bases to collect weapons and other materials like fuel and vehicles. Both are older stories since I read several years ago.

I've read Cmsix's stories many times and while it could be I don't think it's this one ...

as said above I could be mixing several stories into one but I really think in the one I'm looking for they turns the military base into fortified farms, while in Cmsix they finds a ranch that is a secret militarized hideout

the problem is as you stated it yourself that that scene is well into the story and I'm not looking forward to sour my craving for a good "post apoc" story by reading too many of these in a row, so while I thank you for your help I hope someone else will have the answer ;)
