Man used to be a guitar player in a successful rock band in England. He retired several years ago, and now lives alone in the English countryside. One day to stops at a local fair and winds up playing guitar for an audience. He invites a girl in the audience that apparently knows his songs from the old band to join him in performing. She recognizes who he is, and he invites her to come to his place for them to sing together again. The story is incomplete and ends as she arrives at his home.

That's the one. Thank you. I have somewhere around 5,000 files in my SOL folder, some of which came from other places, and sorted by author. By this morning I had worked my way down to the 'M's, but it probably would have taken the rest of the weekend to find it, so thanks again for the help.
