However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I respect that. If you don't like my stories I'm not going to try and force you to read them, and I doubt anyone else will.

You and I don't know each other at all. However, some of the stories do read like a technical manual. I like the general theme of them, and therefore have read them, but then again, my background writing technical reports and procedures allows my mind to follow them.
As a point of constructive criticism, the logic flow in the stories needs to loosen up a bit to allow a better flow.
For the record, that is the problem I'm working with as well. I've written a few stories and the people I've had review them, to a fault, tell me just what I've told you.

Being an avid user of Chilton Manuals in my younger days, I had to chuckle at the comment. So I took it as humorous rather than harsh.

I've used a few Chilton Manuals as well. Let's face it - before the internet, which is apparently something a LOT of people can't grasp, which also means pre-YouTube videos on how to do damned near everything - that was how you did your shadetree mechanicing.
I still remember having to make a trip in town to the library to check out the Chilton for a 1987 Toyota Corolla so I could figure out how to change out the fuel pump. Oh, and I was successful, too.
