Space Opera

Not looking for a specific story, just looking for new ones to read. You know the general story line, Man finds a wrecked spaceship, gets it operational, protects the earth, founds a federation and frees the galaxy....or anything along those lines. I've read many here on SOL so bonus points if its somewhere new(to me).

Thanks in advance,
MileHigh65

Updated:

Accidental Commander by TonyG - Fantastic, but unfortunately incomplete.

Talosian Chronicles series by Sir Winston - You probably will have to search on The Wayback Machine, seeing as he is now selling the newest versions under the name Ben Winston. In fact, if you can find them, he had a lot of different stories in this vein, before pulling them.

The Dipsomaniac Inventor by Howard Faxon - He has a few other decent sci-fi stories.

Finders Keepers by Shakes Peer2B

Island Mine by Refusenik - I keep hoping a sequel will follow, based in space

First Contact & Roadblock by Mocha1120 - Again, unfortunately abandoned

Progenitor saga by Medico

The Destroyers series by Monbade

A lot of his stories can be found at the following link: http://www.asstr.org/files/Authors/Apache/My%20Favorites/Web/Sir%20Winston/

I am not sure how long they will remain but it looks like Apache hasn't updated his listings in some time now.

There was a story similar to Sir Winstons Talosian Chronicles but it was a group of kids that got the ship after a boating accident and were taken aboard by the AI. Was an excellent read but I can't remember the title. I seem to remember a space station called Ghost Station. Anyone know the story?

The Chronicles of Atlantis series by Siath, aka Michael McClain. He and Sir (Ben) Winston founded Blue Space Publications and are selling their work through them.

The Family Volentin stories by Fick Suck are well worth a read even if they don't quite reach your exact specification.

Not worried at all about specifics. That was just a generalization. "Family Volentin" looks interesting and is certainly rated highly by its audience. Thanks for the suggestion.

Subjugation series by FEL is a great read if you are into Space Opera/Sci-fi.

You can find it here:

His other stories are great too, by the way.

You might also want to give Tarayla / The Tarayla Patrol a look - if you can find it. Unfortunately it has been taken down from SOL, but it can be found as an e-book several places (I bought it off of itunes a way back).

I've read that one too. It was a very good read.

Thanks for that link. I'm a few chapters into book two of Caelum Lex. Fans of Firefly should like this one. It's also illustrated. I guess this would be called a graphic novel.
