I read a story a couple years ago that I really liked, but can't remember what it was. Follows a guy playing baseball for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays from the minor leagues up through the majors, and I think they even go to the World Series. Follows him and his girlfriend and their life. That take-me-out-to-the ballgame link *is* Tony Stevens and if he writes about any team other than Baltimore, it is to say where a Baltimore player was playing before he was signed for the O's. I suppose he also writes about the O's opposition but the original question included a World Series and the chances of a WS being between Baltimore and Tampa are currently zero.
