survival story

one3nine0_1 ๐Ÿšซ

looking for a apocalypse survival story that i believe starts out in san diego.

they eventually move to a location in the desert. turned a waterfall into a power source.

the epilogue had something to do with the great great grand daughter reading about him in a history book as he was the founder of the new civilization

cant remember much else. i wanted to reread it but forgot the author and title

"Getting by" from Shakes Peer2B looks like it might be the one.

I just looked at it again. It starts immediately north of Oakland (a place called Vallejo) and then migrates to the desert.

This is it. Thanks so much!

Funny how memory works. This story isn't as good as I remember it to be. But still a fun read

Although they are short stories, I think the associated Justiceman stories are better than the original. Most of the post-apoc stories I've read seem to have an umbelievable amount of serendipity. I suppose they have to or the story wouldn't function, but still.

Consider that you are a future historian, reading memoirs of survivors (or their offspring). For every lucky group, there were hundreds who never lived long enough to write their stories...

True. Looked at it from that side it makes more sense. It's just that when getting it in the first person present, so to speak, it feels different.
