I cn't remember the title or the author. I do remember that it's about a fellow with children leaving his wife because of her infidelity. She has contracted a sexual disease too. IIRC one line in the story is something like: "who do you want to live with your diseased mother..."
Also, the protagonist takes in a cat which he prefers over his wife. Any help identifying this story is immensely appreciated.
