Looking for a story

skyview 🚫

The MC learns he has the ability to see energy lines
and is able to use them as a door or a portal.
Through these doors/portals he can shift to another
world/dimension. He finds one place and meets a man
where some technologies are more advanced than earths
and others lag earths. The man he meets can not see
well because he has cataracts. On the mans world they can not fix it so he helps him get it fixed (maybe
on earth). He then learns from the man that they know
about ancient people that used these portals. That
there were guardians/watchers that protected a main portal (because of some kind of disaster) that
connected a lot of worlds/portals (I think they were
all on a common area on all the worlds around
Chesapeake bay). On this mans world they have
elevators that go to sub-orbital ports and fly on very fast airlines to get to other places on the
planet.

He finds a world left by the ancients that has a lot
of building, libraries and technology. He also learns
to build transporters to safe-guard his girlfriend,
parents and friends so that they get back to their
home portal/world if something happens to him.

That was indeed fast remembering :D

And, by the way, it's good story - and whole series "World of light" is worth of reading :)

Actually it was luck. I had searched everywhere my browser history, stories I've saved on my hard drive, my bookmarks etc, but could not find it. After posting
I decided to look for something to reread or hope to find a new gem, so I went looking through the authors favorite list and the name and description jumped out at me.

Wish I had found it before I posted. I feel kinda bad answering my own question, but I'm glad I found it. Now I can stop driving myself crazy (even if it is a short trip).

Thanks everyone.

Sometimes that is the only way of avoiding thread drift. ;)

Although others appreciated the reminder, in the future, if no one else has posted any replies, you can always delete the original Forum thread. I do that whenever I try to launch a literature discussion in "Authors" and no one is interested in the topic.

Still, a lot of people pick up the suggestions such inquires generate.
