In my mind when I stopped reading I called it Forgettable Freaks. The sequel likely will have a two word title, the second word will be a measure of time. Perhaps Months as that might follow Night and Weeks. The first word will begin with a U. Maybe Unbelievable? Sometimes Jay Can trell, and sometimes he Can't rell. Little old Europe is full of nobility and"nobility".
Almost behind every corner lurks some "noble" person.
If they could just export them to your dear USA or - let's say China, they will be all rich in the moment :D

The rich girl/poor boy dynamic worked well. Dropping that was a story-killer.
The view of the British nobility was weird. Most Brit nobles are the descendants of mediaeval robber barons. Britain was suckered into taking on a mentally unsound family of unwanted German royalty centuries later. The idea of a long-standing British noble family being related to the queen is incorrect.

Given the way the Lords spread their DNA around I reckon half the "British" (as opposed to recent immigrants) can claim to have a "noble" in their bloodline.
Don't forget that William the Conquerer gave land to everyone who supported him (the Saxons losing it all) and then we got the Droit de Seigneur which, not legal in later years, existed in stately homes into probably the 1800s, the brides having become chambermaids etc.

Droit de Seigneur in Europe is one of those things mostly made up by Victorians. There isn't any contemporary evidence it ever existed as a formal right. Nobles having out of wedlock kids happened. But there isn't any contemporary evidence of nobles claiming droit de seigneur.
The family was supposed to have become ennobled during the reign of one of the early members of the "German royalty" - the first Lord married a particularly obnoxious family member.

NB Royalty tend to hand out dukedoms to relatives eg Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent.
