dead hard drive

greensocks ๐Ÿšซ

I am working on getting back a story list lost to a failed HD. This should be an easy one but I just cant pull it up from my memory. It's from the do-over grp.

The guy wakes up in his younger self and his sister is not dead yet. he decides if nothing else he will keep her from being killed on graduation night in a car wreck so he tells her enough to keep her alive. but Fate keeps trying to kill her using the same or nearly the same situation.

The incomparable Al Steiner again, "Doing It All Over."

this is the second HD failure in 10 years and after the first one I swore I would not lose it again and I backed it up on a thumb drive. then i went looking for the thumb drive and as you can guess the list was not on any of the thumb drives in my desk. those tiny things disappear as fast as my socks. lol thanks for getting me back on the right track. i will give the authors list and all time best list a second going over.

Western Digital has some good prices on external USB drives right now. I have one 1 TB I use to backup by system drive, and two 2 TB ones that I use for my non-critical data. My really critical stuff like my taxes and bank statements I also copy to the cloud. I also image my system drive to another HDD, but that doesn't always help. When I was upgrading from 8.1 to 10 my system SSD decided to kick the bucket. When I tried to use the image, it was hosed as well. Wound up doing a clean install and buying a product key to stay legal. But I do have to say in my twenty or so years of playing with these things, that is the only time I have lost a drive, so in the big picture I am doing pretty good.

I did that until the gestapo arrived and ran off with all my storage devices. Now I have a copy on a back-up hard drive, another on a back-up USB, drive, and a copy on DropBox.

Back to court AGAIN on 12 Dec for the drives.

The Gestapo oppose everything I say just to be illegitimate rectums.

All I'm asking for is the 7.5 million files they've examined and cleared, not yet asked for any they haven't looked at.

Asking for a definitive list of what they have, some items are just 'stack of CDs /DVDs - yet all have titles' ditto with 8 Novels. And also asking for a schedule of when they'll get around to looking at the items not yet examined. Had them nearly 18 months and haven't read the 8 novels, despite also having them in electronic format.

Mind you, their own paperwork and behaviour showed the drives are treated separate to the computer, but not when they want to hog everything for themselves.

edit to add: My main concern, after some legal records, is the stories that were all but finished.

Do what I did after the same problems you had, I keep my list now in google bookmarks. Never get lost again

I had 2 1tb Western Digital internal drives fail me. About 3 years old and out of warranty but my Samsung 320gb drive I brought back in 2007 is still working fine. Have a 3rd drive making noises so backed it up and waiting for it to die on me. Also a WD drive :(
