Lost alien abduction story/series

Doc923 ๐Ÿšซ

Key features remembered: man becomes lawman that had died. All memories of prior individual implanted in his memory. I believe he was called "Wolf" Barton ( not sure on last name. Planet was seeded with towns from old west. People ha "jack" under arm where memories could be downloaded. There was a sidekick who was an obnoxious advanced alien who was pure energy. Also there was an insectoid matriarchal race that befriends him & he is made a prince by the queen. There is a remnant race on the planet that are like giant dogs/small bears who are friendly and have many special characteristics. Wolf befriends one and becomes a blood brother. They are the last peace loving remnant of a previous war like race. At one point he is sent back to earth, but ends up back where now feels he belongs.

Oh Hell No! by terriblethom matches most of your description. Although you may be mixing in another story with the insectoid race bit.

Terriblethom removed the story from SOL and FS in 2012 as he was working on it, but is yet to repost the new version.

If he's been working on it for four years, it's unlikely we'll ever see it. Although novelists often take years to produce a novel, that's frequently because of delays in getting it accepted by a publisher, delays as assigned editors question the basic story assumptions, and the producer thinking it would sell better with a young girl as the lead character.

For most SOL authors, we either turn the work out quickly, or the story gets so involved we take a couple months to write each additional chapter before we post it.

@Vincent Berg

Terriblethom is one of the worst authors with regards to posting and removing their work.

He's posted and removed 'Oh Hell No!' and 'Missions' and other stories from SOL and FS many times. I remember seeing 'Oh Hell No' being posted at least three separate times since 2005.

Thanks to all. Before I could get back to the Forum, I found it on a word search on one of my backup storage drives. I am in the middle of the story now.
