That's it. I'm afraid to say I've just been reading his Carter series (which I didn't recognise from the synopsis, but was recently lead to by a reply to a lost stories query a year or so ago - I tend to browse through then).
Once again, even though I scanned his other story synopsis after finishing the Carter ones,
I didn't recognise it, but the first paragraph told me I was the right place.
Muted cry of frustration. . . . .
