A man was happily married in the SW (Cali? Arizona?), suddenly his wife "divorces" him and disappears. Eventually he learns that she was a bank robber(?) radical(?) hiding from the feds. The minister that did the marriage was an actor that she knew. She left because the feds were closing in and she didn't want him implicated in the crimes she was hiding from. Probably 10 to 20 years old.

She had been embezzling from her boss and there was nothing fake about their marriage, but she'd realised the fit was going to hit the shan and had told her husband she wanted a divorce - probably to protect him and the kids.
A good story but not the one I was thinking of. The crime was in the New England area. I think he visited her while she was in custody before the trial.
