Could be Winds by h20wader -- which is periodically discussed on this forum. The author took it off SOL, presumably to publish it for sale.
The story you are looking for is 'Winds' by H2OWader. Unfortunately, it is no longer available on line.
We've discussed this one before, but I suspect you're looking for "Winds" by H2OWater.
Unfortunately, he removed his stories from SOL to publish them, though it took a few years for them to appear. You can locate them by searching Amazon. The books in the series are:
1) Winds
2) Winds: The Way West
It features a man who was given an antique pistol by his grandfather, only to get into trouble and parachutes to the ground, only to end up back in the 19th century. He ends up with a Southern Plantation where he tries to change history, ending up (in book 2) traveling the world where he ends up in Africa). He eventually puts the same gun away for his grandson to be given him when he reaches a certain age.
I have really looked and I can't find this author anywhere unless I am horribly mis-spelling his name. Do you have a link to his materials. I have no problem paying a reasonable amount to re-read this story and want to explore that before I ask someone to send me a copy of theirs.... Thanks!
H2OWader still has some stories on SOL, and they are recent, so it may be worth sending him an email through his SOL address.
If he has published it, I am sure he would be more than willing to sell a copy directly.
Edit to add - I note that the original message did show the wrong name, it is H2OWader, not water.

It was pulled to go commercial, and hasn't been sighted since. Check this thread for some more info.

There's a few like that. If he started in a plane and ran a plantation, then it's likely it was Winds, which was pulled some time back.
Sounds a lot like Winds. I've got a .epub copy if you want to shoot me an email at sobertrout88@gmail.com.
If it is acceptable, I would be happy to share the two files. I don't know the policy regarding stories that have left the site.
I don't know the policy regarding stories that have left the site.
I don't think the site explicitly has a policy for that.
However, if you give someone else copies of a story you downloaded here or anywhere else, while also keeping a copy for yourself, without a license to do so you are violating the copyright on the story.
It doesn't matter if you got the story for free or if it's freely available elsewhere, you still don't have the right do distribute copies without a license from the author.
I don't think the site explicitly has a policy for that.
Lazeez doesn't need an explicit policy for it. All the stories have the standard copyright rules and laws applied to them, and all he has is the Limited Right to Display the stories for the period and terms under the contract with the author as shown at:
https://storiesonline.net/author/posting_guidelines.php
the key parts relevant are:
1. You are the creator/co-creator of the work or you have explicit written permission from its author to post the work online. OR Submission is in the public domain (copyright has expired - which you may be asked to prove.)
2. You grant Storiesonline, its parent company 'World Literature Company (WLPC)' and its affiliated sites unlimited rights to publish the work in any format that it supports, on any of its sites for as long as WLPC exists or until you withdraw the work with a written request for removal. You retain all copyrights that you may have for the work.
10. Storiesonline has general disclaimer and copyright notice that covers all the site's contents including what works you may post on the site. Each reader has to agree to disclaimer and copyright notice before they use the site. If your work contains very similar copyright and disclaimer notices, the moderator will remove the disclaimer from your work for redundancy. (to save on bandwidth)
edit to add: Once a story is removed, for any reason, the standard copyright laws on what can be done with it apply.

I covered that part.
