Old Guard

Finbar_Saunders ๐Ÿšซ

So, with netflix about to release Old Guard 2 shortly, I enjoyed a re-watch of the first movie.

I had a bit of an internal debate about a plot point in the film. Im sure the ordeal of the immortal who was put in an iron casket and dropped into the sea to drown constantly for 500 years was also something I read in a story, possibly on SOL.

It's such a powerful idea that I think it's ok to reuse it. Rest assured I don't care about it being plagiarized it's just that I have a really strong feeling I'd read it rather than watched it.
Any thoughts?

I've read several stories here with immortals either as the mc or supporting characters.

For example I read a story of an immortal character set in ancient times and his miss adventures like sleeping with a powerful man's wife and fleeing the town he lived in then I think later on being trapped in kinda subspace dimensional home I think with his lover's and later released by a relative who now operates a wine vineyard? Not sure might be mixing some up.

Another was about a guy basically also having adventures and miss adventures but somehow interacting with ancient gods like use visiting a flourishing a city under the protection of a paired couple of deities but when he later come by again he sees that the place is in bad shape since people stopped believing and worshipping those gods. Later I remember his travelling in some sea but getting ship wrecked because some sea god hated him and he spends some time stranded on a island with some lady that I think was a gods daughter.

These stories also features supernatural elements like gods, magic/genies and maybe the first one was that he was immortal due being some kinda vampire maybe, can't remember but it was years ago I read these and unfortunately can't remember titles and authors since I read too much stuff.

I'm a free user so trying to look this stuff up is more difficult than if I was premium but you might have some luck with category search with those terms I mentioned before in a mix and match style.

Yeah, there's many stories that feature immortals and that premise is ripe for misadventures.
I'm just asking about this particular scenario. I'm sure I read it rather that saw it in a movie.

Ideas you can use. The problems begin when you use the same descriptions of the story. What happens after MC is placed in a casket and dropped in the water will matter. Eaten by a sea monster, transported by UFOs, saved by the NEMO submarine.

Im not looking for story ideas, I am trying to see if my memory is busted.

After thinking on it some there were a couple stories that feature a similar bit of putting someont into container of some kind and dropping them into the sea.

The first one was basically a bad guy who finally got caught and to stop him they did that. I think he either died or at least never seen or heard from again.

The other was a younger guy who was normal beforehand but after that he survived but got water based powers if I remember correctly, but not sure about immortality, the setting was a time period were there were pirates and such as his home was a haven for them.

Wordstothewise's The Vengeful Tide had a similar premise. The MC was a pirate bound and thrown into the sea by his crew. He died and reborn as something similar to a demi god, son of the sea god. Unfortunately he pulled the story from SOL long ago.
