Been trying to figure this out for weeks.
Missing a story about a guy that salvages space ships from the space lanes with an AI using androids to make it go faster. I remember he picks up the jobs at a cafe? on a space station.
That's what I remember for sure might also include rescued females, leading to pirate hunting with a pirate base in a hidden hollowed out asteroid, but that may be a second different story that I am blending together. Please help.

There's a couple of stories with hidden hollowed out bases.. Three Square Meals is one, but that's an AI base not pirates. Thomas dePrima's A Galaxy unknown series has multiple space pirate bases in asteroids… wrong gender though…
There's one here on SOL that has a base in the asteroid belt that gets taken over by pirates that name escapes me at the moment… and another with a hidden base in an asteroid by the same author….

Just been through my history but still no joy.
If I recall the owner of the cafe on the space station acted as the agent for the different salvage crews.
