I really liked the story.
I hated it.
Losing 120 pounds in ten weeks? Why can't I have that!? Best I can do is ten pounds in 120 weeks -.-
Thinking of a line in one of Wes Boyd's stories,
"Hi, I'm Vicky Varney, it was Pabst for a while, but I lost that two hundred pounds of ugly fat by divorcing him . . ."
That's from the second chapter of "The Girl in the Mirror", a story which never made it to either this site nor Finestories. Wes did like the occasional acrimonious divorce in his stories.

It is still available for free on his spearfishlaketales site. We lost a very good author when he passed away. I read a lot of his work and every single one is very good.
It took me ten years to drop 100 lbs.
It took me about 40 years to gain 50 lbs.
My high school yearbook had the caption under my photo: "Tall and lean like a string bean." I didn't weigh enough to try out for the football team. The Army tried to fatten me up in basic training but failed.
Why can't I have that!
Maybe because you want to survive?
While losing 10 pounds in a week is possible, it's not 10 pounds of fat. Continuing to lose at that rate can cause permanent damage even if it doesn't kill you.
Take it from someone who has survived having a tropical parasite. I was in hospital for weeks and in bed at home for months afterwards.
IIRC he was extremely sensitive to criticism and threatened to quit writing at one point. His last blog post did promise to finish his stories.
Then there is this:
I have another series ready as long as my vision holds out.
So health issues may have overwhelmed him.
Wes Boyd passed away on March 8, 2018.
Yes, but this thread is primarily about Dbuck, in particular the post you replied to.
After all this time my Favorite is still "Snowplow Extra"!
I reread it about every 18 months!
