I was just reading a story about time travel. It took place on the US East coast in a research facility a hurricane hit them and sent them back to early American settlement. I know it's written by one of my favourite authors but I can't find it.

Grizz
Winds of Change by The Scott fits the description better. He started it then it sat dormant for quite a while before it was finished, possibly by another author.
That's the same farking story Grizz pointed to.

His link works for me while yours is invalid.
HM.
Sorry, akarge was 70 seconds faster.
You snooze, you lose.
And yes, I had checked the link to see if it really pointed to that story.
You should not post search links anymore as they work only for you. The don't work for anybody else.
The 'More Info' link works well enough.

...but I have to hand-build a 'More Info' link as I'm only a basic member most of the while, much more error-prone. I'd guess this change is due to the improved site security? Also, are all the old search links I've posted in the past now broken, or are they grandfathered in? How about if I use a search link copied between different computers here (both logged in as me), or different browsers? Actually, with the 'Click for more text' changes, posting a story link does not have the disadvantages it used to have, and puts you only one click from the story details, so I'd already nearly given up posting search links, looks like it's not 'nearly' anymore.
@akarge, @helmut_meukel: Mea culpa, I didn't follow the link, just hovered over it and saw it didn't say .../winds-of-change so thought it was for a different story, but it's (presumably) the original posting name.
I'd guess this change is due to the improved site security?
Yes. With the 'token' variable expected and each token is user specific, any search link is invalid except for the person who conducted the search.
I've made the 'More Info' link more widely available.

Thanks - especially as visiting such links does not count against the reader's daily quota!

Since I introduced the 'click to load text' function, visiting a story for a free member doesn't count against their quota until they click the 'load more' link.

Nice to know. Is that also the case in Finestories and Scifistories?

Yes. Storiesonline, Finestories and Scifistories share the exact same code, as in literally, the same files run all three site. So any feature introduced on SOL, is introduced to Finestories and Scifistories at the exact same second.

Kind of like "BOGOF" except you have invented "BOBTF"

My apologies. I had a severe case of cranial-rectal insertion this morning and was thinking he'd referred to a different story.
