Story starts with car crashing in a guys front yard and a girl is thrown clear and taken in the home.
Bad guys show up (with magic/demonic powers) and kill and erase peoples mind of events happening.
That's how I remember the story starting.

I have looked through my directories but I cannot find it. As I recall, the man that owns the home realizes she was kidnapped so he hides the girl under or behind bushes in the yard. When everyone else has left the scene, he brings her into his home. The story is basically about him protecting her.
Where are the members who still have a memory when they are needed?

I haven't read Hal in a while and haven't read the updated one, but I'm pretty sure it's nothing like this. The beginning starts with Hal in the back of a pickup truck about to get dumped in a field when the truck is struck by lightning. There is no crash, no girl, and no magic/demonic powers. I guess it's possible Ernest change the story in the update one, but I can't imagine it changed that much.
I liked the story, but I just don't think it fits the request here.
Hal caught a girl left behind when some teens attacked his house at night. It was that part of Nizzgrrl's post I responded to.
His esp/mind control abilities might suggest magic.
The start is like "The little thief" by Charlie For Now, but not the magic part. Might you be thinking of two stories and mixing them?
