I read a story long ago about a guy rescuing a girl that was kidnapped. In the process he finds another girl and took both with him. The original girl was handed back to her father, but the other one had nowhere to go, so he started to care for her. Eventually a relationship developed.

You know... it sounds like one of Lumpy's John Taylor stories, but not quite. In his story The Wrong Girl, The kidnapped girl is handed back to her mother and the additional girl is adopted. So it's not exactly your description, but maybe just adjacent.
