I went through this before but I searched all the Forum history and didn't find anything about this story so here goes:
guy is a civilian engineer for the Army Corp of Engineers. He is working in Davenport, Iowa on a Mississippi River project installing some locks, etc. His knee is messed up from an incident in college where the boyfriend of a girl he was close friends with messed it up. She gets transferred to Davenport and they reconnect.
