I don't know the story but I like the premise of sending politicians back in time. Many of them would be much more comfortable living in 1910.

They can still do damage then. Send them back to Nero's Rome or London during the Black Death and see how they do.

Why send them back in time? Send them to Mars, or maybe the surface of the sun.

Send them to Mars, or maybe the surface of the sun.

cheaper to send them deep sea diving without an air tank or hose.

The Grey Ghost a politician somehow sent back in time to become the Grey Ghost.

This is mentioned as a plot explanation in Gunslinger, but I've not seen it in another story It's a reference to a Confederate officer John Mosby and his unusual, for that time, tactics.

Mosby -- a pretty remarkable guy.

Grey or Gray? Two (or more) nations divided by a single language.

And like in all countries or cultures. Some historical figures have become legends. That has its good side and its bad side since facts sometimes don't match the stories.

The fact is incorporating those people into stories tend to make them more realistic. Its because they were known historical people regardless of their country or culture. Properly used those people help a story come to life.

And here I thought TV's "Space Ghost" was merely getting old!

Maybe but we all fit into that category. I know I do and many others either are in the same situation. The rest will join us soon enough no matter how hard they try to avoid it.

I just reread this and I know it is kind of late to ask, but IF he was sent back and stopped this death of grant but changed other things like the wars that were never fought then would they forget he was there since the reason for his dad died would no longer be there? the whole I killed my dad before he met my mom thing? only it would be no war(s) in Europe so no terrorists so no reason for dad to be targeted then killed leading to him going back in time to stop the bad guys, right?

depends on the time travel theory you use.

1. create an alternate universe and the new starts with the change while the old one stands.

2. time and history will correct itself and something will happen to see the significant events happen anyway.

Its a guessing game for us. We will never know which is the right answer. So all those unknowns naturally create great story lines. In fiction a writer/storyteller can explore all kinds of possibilities. Of course some stories are enjoyed more than others however.

Alternate reality or immutability of time doesn't matter. His presence there was as a result of time travel. Therefore there had to be something uptime that sent him back, which means that people would know about him and his mission. The story doesn't say how he was selected in the changed future, just that they knew about him. The existence of the Federal and Corporate forces shows that there is a need for them. There have always been terrorists [look up the definition of 'assassin'], whatever their current motivation is/was.
