A man with wife and little girl is living rough during the depression. He had been a "share cropper" and evicted for standing up to help people round about him. He was walking along a railway track picking up seed that had dropped out of a train, to have something to eat. He is accosted by a railroad bully who attacks him. He fights and kills the bully. From the dead man's body he gets money. Far more than you would expect from a person holding such a position with the railroad.
