Read only once story.

Does anyone else have story's they love and recommend, but for what ever reason can't bring themselves to reread? For me an example is G Younger "Stupid Boy" series. I highly recommend it, eagerly await the next book, but keep cringing and stopping on reread attempts.

Stories with joy, anguish and a healthy dose of pathos, typically leave one feeling like that, as having read it before, the memory of the more pathetic parts still haunt you. But your response makes sense. If the story makes you uneasy to reread, then the story most definitely works, so it's no wonder why you're so eager to continue reading the newest episodes/books.

However, another approach is to reread until it disturbs, then just the next chapter to too, picking up when it's less disturbing to read, just to review what you'd read before.

I find myself doing that alot with "A Well Lived Life". Though the first 10 books have a ton of skimming compared to the rest of the series. To me it is the stupid choices and consequences that are the hardest.

Don Lockwood's Dance of a Lifetime Liked it a lot, but have no interest in rereading it.

How about a story you really like but when you reread it you skip a bunch of it?
Millionaire Next Door is one of them for me. Great story but gets too preachy at times.
