No Arguments

Many of the various tales here on SOL feature a male protagonist that is so good that he has a harem, from one or two to many, that he can satisfy. His queens.

The harem is never portrayed as having disagreements between the individuals.

I just returned from witnessing a very public argument between two women and the male staying mostly out of the way of the traded insults.

Yes, he did try to calm the dispute, and 'take it outside', but not 100% successfully.

A public spectacle.

That leads me to the conclusion that most of the stories of a dominant male and harem females is simply glossing over reality between individual personalities.

Arguments will happen and require 'firm' intervention.

Ah... the potential tales that might be imagined.

That or balanced communication between all parties.

My reality preference also.

But based on the variability of individual personalities... how likely?

My guesstimate? Very low probability.

Too much like real life, perhaps?

Fiction provides a temporary escape from these sorts of things.

I cannot disagree with your point.

But I best appreciate those authors that find a way to describe homo sapiens reality in a less confrontational tale.

An alternate reality within plausibility without the ugliness of jealousy and dominance competition.

There's always the "MC has some sort of mind-fuckery that simply edits out the harem member's ability to be jealous" answer.

Not entirely true. There is a factor that most are unaware of which is the mediating effect of the presence of the man (protagonist). Women's behaviour gets affected by those around them. Some drive them crazy and some calm them.

Way back when, in the 80s, I worked in a medical warehouse. At one point I was the boss of few women. It seems that 4 of the women were interested in me (one was my assistant/secretary) and whenever I was present those 4 women were there. I worked in that position for about 2 years. The second year, those women (young, in their early 20s, like me) became very close friends. Hardly any disagreement. I was sleeping with 3 of them (separately of course) and about to start with the fourth, when I had to leave for good.

I had to move to another city for family reasons. They were heart broken and weepy when I left. I checked back on them a bit later, like a week or so, and they had all split away from each other. They seem to not be able to stand each other and their 'friendship' disintegrated very quickly. Two of them had reached the point of a cat fight and pulled each others' hair out not even few days after I left.

So in that instance, (yes, anecdotal) it seems my presence affected their behaviour quite a bit (maybe they didn't want to look like bad women to my eyes) and they remained friends or pretended to be friends, while I was there, but once I was removed from the picture, they couldn't stand each other.

I love data points that conflict with my perceptions.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Your premise led me to another train of thought. Someone should write a story, probably tongue-in-cheek, about a woman's harem. With four or five guys sharing one woman, can you imagine the conflict that would ensue?. Probably it would result in total mayhem or the death of the weaker guys. Only in fiction can sharing mean caring!

With four or five guys sharing a woman, at least the sex could be reasonably plausible.

Plausible, but probably painful, too.

Well, the men could hang back and wait for their turn with the woman....

That's what I was thinking.

By the time the fifth man had finished, the woman would only have 15 minutes to wait until the first man was able to perform again - plenty of time to go and have a coffee ;-)

When I replied that the impatient men could avoid pain by awaiting their turn with the woman, I was more thinking of the old joke about Superman flying over a tall building and seeing a smiling Wonder-Woman sunbathing naked on the roof below.

Aroused by the sight, he flies down, whips out his manhood and quickly has his way before she has a chance to react, and then flies off...

"What the fuck was that?" asks Wonder-Woman.

"No idea," said the invisible man, "But my arse is on fire..."

Would the men be having sex with each other while waiting their turn with the moman like in male harems do?

Tw0Cr0ws ๐Ÿšซ

@red61544

But that would require one woman with an extremely high libido and several men with lower libidos, since it is more common that the man wants sex more often than the woman.

I have several stories, one in particular, with several veterans and a "stable" of prostitutes in their teens or twenties. All, or at least most characters have at least some degree of PTS/PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress / Disorder).

I have quite a bit of competition that occurs "off screen" that I detail in my notes. I try to show some of this, but Not "tell" what is going on. Readers may infer what they wish. Relationships are complicated. Many people don't fully understand their own motivations and emotions.

According to what I have learned, in many situations with multiple prostitutes, one (or more) are granted authority from the man (men) and she will implement most discipline; but the male(s) enforcing at times.

In some of my stories the females, at least some of them engage in competition for various goals. Usually in subtle ways, but not always. (Also, the men may be oblivious to matters most of the women are aware of. Or, sometimes the men are aware, but act as if they do not; preferring the women to deal with such matters. Only interfering when "things get out of hand")

So, I do depict conflicts, although not often overtly; almost never where the "mundanes" are likely to witness it.
