Sequels we will probably never see

LonelyDad ๐Ÿšซ

We all have stories we've liked that are unfinished. Sometimes it's because the author lost interest or maybe wrote themselves into a corner and couldn't figure out how to go on. Other times it's because the author has passed on. Which is what prompted me to write this. I'm rereading for the nth time Ernest Bywater's 'Tinker Taylor.'That story has a conclusion, but there is plenty of room for additional stories, and I'm rueing that there will never be any additional stories about Lee Taylor. I know we all have one or more favorite authors who are either no longer writing or they have gone on ahead. So we are just left with rereading what they have shared with us.

The Defenseman series, forgot the author, it has two parts complete and a third that is unfinished iirc. There are some of Jay Cantrell's stories that aren't complete and I wish were. I have a rule these days not to read unfinished work anymore.

But if one is into reading each exciting chapter as it is posted.....

I don't mind reading unfinished stories as long as it is long enough to still have a good story in it. That's like not reading a finished story because there are no sequels.

The problem with this is that length does not imply cohesion, especially when so many authors write in a serial format. Without knowing if a given author has actually outlined future content it's hard to know if a 50k word story, or even a 400k word story, is actually worth reading.

Exactly. You won't know until you read it. I won't read a unfinished story unless it is at least 400k in the hopes that it will have some story to it.

It's the same as what this thread is about, There are many stories on this site that are finished that clearly need to have a sequel but doesn't.

At least Al_Steiner is now posting the sequels to Intemperance. with 3 & 4 which are a lot better then 1 & 2.

He's posting them here. They've already been written and available on the 'South American rainforest' synonym website for sale for a while.

I recently finished reading Melissa's Secrets by Pookie. It is easily the most well written erotica I have ever read.

61 chapters were written and the last blog post by Pookie that she mentioned more chapters was back in 2020 I believe.

Since then they have added some revisions to existing stories but no indication of continuing the series. It would be very unfortunate if it is not continued. Weirdly enough some blog posts even mentioned that chapters 62 and 63 were already finished so I am not sure what happened.

Anyway that's just my 2 cents.

Yeah I saw that. Not sure if it means they've stopped writing or not.

The big one for me is Wizard's Trailer Park: Sixth Year. When Fifth Year, Part 2 finished posting in December, 2008, the last chapter had the note:

The story of Tony, Tami, Robbie and the rest will continue in The Trailer park: The Sixth Year, coming some time in '09.

To the best of my knowledge, Wizard has not posted anything since then. It's possible there is content on other sites, especially since some of Wizard's early stories aren't on SOL. Still, I'd love to see Tony & Tami finally get married.

Hey Folks! I realize I'm going to 'out' myself as a noob with this question, but what's the deal with "Wizard", and "The Trailer Park: The Sixth Year?" Or, is that a taboo question?

@ceb.driver

Not a taboo question as such, just a bit shy on details. I'm not sure when he's due out, but last I heard he was in a federal prison for a few years. Not sure if he'll be allowed Internet access when he gets out, either."

There are other posts about Wizard on this Author Hangout posting and there may be more information available elsewhere even other posts on the Forum.

Thanks, I did miss this. Unfortunately, it does still mean that we'll likely never get a full conclusion to Trailer Park.

Having read some of his stories, I'm not going to guess what he was in for, although honestly his writing style is a bit odd if my guess is correct. Ah well, none of my business.

From what I remember, something along the lines of Kiddie Porn (whether that involved visual material or stories, I have no idea) allied with stupidity (he represented himself before the court).

If he's in US Federal Prison on a child pornography charge it would have to have been visual material (and not drawings) depicting actual children.

An obscenity charge could cover drawings or written material, but that generally requires something more than mere under age sex.

Don't forget he represented himself, that left him rather vulnerable.

Not relevant to the fact that a child porn charge as a constitutional matter requires actual images of actual children.

Dicrostonyx ๐Ÿšซ

@Dinsdale

I'm not American, but my understanding from a legal YouTuber I watch is that CP charges in the US require that an actual, real child is involved in some way, not a potential, theoretical, or fictional child. So stories, cartoons, drawings, and so on are not CP.

Now, if a person had 10,000 drawings of children and 1 photo of an actual child in an inappropriate situation, that's a situation where representing oneself could be an issue. The photo would be illegal, but a lawyer could make a strong argument that the photo somehow made its way in to an otherwise legal collection. It's a lot harder to make that argument competently when you lack the training and experience.

JiMC and his "Lucky Tickets" springs immediately to mind.

First posted here in 2002, sequel in 2005 with more promised.

Posted a few more stories, then said in a 2018 he was working on it, and silence ever since.

At over 5 years, to be honest I have given up ever seeing the final book in that series.
