A Well-Lived Life by Michael Loucks

Does the story involve cheating? I saw an old post by the author themselves saying it does and it was coded as such. But that was a very old post and it's no longer coded with the cheating tag. Was it edited out or something? I'm fine with spoilers

In general, no. The main characters are determined to be faithful. But.

In an early book, Steve meets a previous flame and falls into bed with her after promising to be faithful with his current squeeze. He cheats with this girl at least once more, but I can't remember when. This forms part of his reasons for being faithful.

There are a few other cheats during the series by side characters, and consequences follow for them too.

There's definitely cheating, although the protagonist doesn't always view it as such.

First, while the main character says that he's upfront about the fact that he isn't entering serious relationships, he also pursues and initiates (or escalates) relationships with girls who have made it clear that they are not interested in just fooling around. As such, throughout the early books he has multiple girlfriends who are barely putting up with him because they think they can win and be his serious partner.

Second (some spoilers), around book 4 or 5 he actively pursues and seduces a girl from a very restrictive and religious family. Eventually it seems like he's finally getting over his worst behaviours and is dedicating himself to her, even making several promises to that effect. Beginning of the next book and less than a week passing and he's in a roommates-with-benefits/ ersatz-marriage situation with someone who he'd previously dated and had insisted to his GF that he was no longer involved with.

There's probably more, but that's where I stopped reading. After more that 1.3 million words (twice the length of the entire Lord of the Rings + Hobbit), it finally looked like there was character development and then it was pissed away in a single chapter. As far as I'm concerned the books ended when Steve headed off to college.

I think the short answer is that yes, there is one express cheating incident in AWLL 1 Book 4. Beyond that, Steve is in an set of open relationships (and that continues through the rest of the series).

As other posters have said, there are some instances which you might, depending on your views, see as pseudo-cheating.
