Are votes linked to chapters?

I was wondering, are votes linked to chapters? I have a two chapter story with a third soon to drop. I have made some small but, important plot changes to the master file and for simplicity, I was thinking of deleting the second chapter and reposting the first chapter with the corrections and including what had been the second chapter. After it's published, the plan is to submit the third chapter in place of the deleted second chapter.... If all that makes sense... LOL

People who voted after reading the second chapter, are the votes linked to that chapter, or is it linked to the story overall, so that deleting chapters will not change the amount of votes so far received?

The other option is to delete chapter two and repost chapter one with chapter two and three amalgamated inside, however, I have noticed from doing that before, readers/followers of the story aren't aware that the story has been expanded.

Votes are linked to stories, not chapters. If you vote as each chapter is published, that vote is on the entire work, not the chapter, and overrides any previous votes.

readers/followers of the story aren't aware that the story has been expanded.

I think that's going to be a problem for every scenario that doesn't end up with three distinct chapters. There seems to be a way around it, but you'll probably need to ask management.

I've just noticed one of your serials, to which I've awarded a very high rating, has had two chapters posted so far. If the story is updated and it's not publicised, I will be very, very, not very happy ;-)

Votes are linked to the story. Yes, many people will vote after each chapter for a story while it's being posted, but all that does is change the value of the vote for that story they previously lodged. So, regardless of many time a reader changes their vote of a story, the system will only have the last vote they made listed, counted, and included in the various counters.

Thank you all for the replies. I shall correct the mistakes and errors in the master file of the currently posted work and delete chapter two and resubmit chapter one with chapter two added, that saves me having to resubmit chapter one and two. After a day or two, I'll post chapter two (which will actually be chapter three). Poor Beth...LOL

I wonder how the "My Library" will work for people who read Chapter 2 and it is positioned to open Chapter 3 when posted. Instead of Chapter 3 being posted, another Chapter 2 will be posted. What will the "My Library" do?
