Coding question: RAAC

Quasirandom ๐Ÿšซ

The tag RAAC, Revenge At All Costs, is categorized under Couples. Is it appropriate to use it when the revenge has nothing to do with a romantic relationship? Or would that confuse readers?

Thinking of, oh, say, revenge for being framed for the crime, or something like that. Or The Count of Monte Cristo.

I don't see why not. The "humiliation" tag is under "BDSM Elements" but I've used the "humiliation" tag and I don't think I ever wrote a BDSM story.

And Magic is under consent elements, but is used in every kind of fantasy, even when not used for mind control.

And Magic is under consent elements,

Not anymore. Few months ago I moved it to 'Paranormal'.

Although, initially the tag was really meant as a way for somebody to override consent. As in to magically make women take off their panties.

Me too. I previously swerved it because the paranormal aspects of a story had no bearing on consent. I suppose I'd better go back and check which stories should be retagged.

Did that involve a couple?

Is RAAC a code imported from 'that sort of site' like ENF? If so, using it in a more generic context might cause some stamping of princessy feet.

@Quasirandom

The RAAC code is Reconciliation At All Costs, not Revenge.

It's about the victim in a cheating situation trying to preserve the relationship no matter what it takes.

The 'R' in RAAC is for Reconciliation.

The revenge plot is "BTB" ("Burn The Bitch").

They designate the two specific formulaic plots allowed in the Cheating genre, and any deviation from the formula is likely to be met with flames and 1-bombs.

It may be time for a Rosanne Rosanadanna voice of Ne-ver-mind.

BTB clearly isn't a general revenge, no, so that wouldn't apply. And that using those tags outside of the trope-specific contexts will poke the fire ants is exactly what I was seeking to learn. Thanks.
