Bookapy Stats Change

Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

Since bookapy doesn't have its own announcement mechanism, this is for those who have books there for sale.

I made a change to the stats page to allow more flexibility and the ability to print income statements.

If there are things needed for the income statements, please let me know and I'll add them.

Coolio! Looks great! Thank you for adding the features.

You took away a lot of information I use.

1. Clicking on Todays and Yesterdays numbers was important to me.

2. Getting the book details for the last quarter is important to me when the quarter is paid. Not just the gross and net for the quarter, but by novel.

I took away some of the shortcuts but gave you a way to get any period that you want. Specify the dates in the fields and click 'Show'.

I like that as we can customise the report to suit our personal needs. For example, some people live in countries where the tax year is 1 Jan to 31 Dec while others live in countries where the tax year is 1 July to 30 June, and those who are publishing through their own company could have different periods again.

Aha, I didn't notice that. Yes, that gives me the details for the previous month. And by showing a single date I get yesterday's numbers.

Okay, I didn't lose anything.

By the way, do you report my earnings to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service? Since I didn't get a 1099-MISC from you, I assumed you didn't.

My understanding of the US laws is that responsibility is yours and not his as he isn't in the USA. My Lulu sales have withholding tax taken out on some of the sales and they send me a 1099 each year, but it's never a big enough amount to warrant doing anything about.

FYI: I'm now earning more from Bookapy per quarter than I do from Lulu per year.

Depending upon how you file, you would report this income either on Schedule C, which goes to Schedule 1, line 3, or as miscellaneous or hobby income on Schedule 1, Line 8, which transfers to Line 9 on the 1040 tax return. You don't have to have a 1099-MISC, you're supposed to self-report.

Supposed to, being the key words here ...

being under the Australian tax Laws there is a figure on which you can earn any sort of legal income before you have to lodge a tax return. Luckily I'm just below that this FY, but may have to watch it for next year.

With the amount of withholding tax Lulu holds each year being in the $20 to $50 range it's just not worth the trouble for me to go through the process of lodging paperwork to lodge a claim as that also means lodging a tax return and that opens up other issues since I'm currently in the 'retired not working no need to lodge a tax return' category right now and have been for several years.

No. I don't report to the IRS.

I just went there before coming here.

Thank you! It's VERY nice, and easy to use. I have a spreadsheet that I keep with quarterly data, as well as my own calculations. Very nice to see that over the course of the entire time frame (almost two full years) not only do all the sales numbers match up, but my calculated percentage is literally only off by two cents from your numbers.

You get your two cents worth.

Why the hell would you admit to tax fraud online? It's saved forever! Just keep your mouth shut about your fraud. /boggle
