Mac Screen Shot

Switch Blayde 🚫
Updated:

I've used the Screen Shot on the Mac before, but it's not working. I hold down shift+command+4 and draw the border around the part of the screen I want a copy of. I hear the click that the picture was taken.

But the screen shot ends up in my clipboard. It's supposed to be on the desktop. I went into System Preferences and restored defaults, but that didn't help.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Why is it in the clipboard and not on my desktop? I want to move the PNG to a folder, but I can't find it (other than it being in my clipboard). I know it's in my clipboard because I can bring up a new Word doc and paste it there.

Open screenshot, choose options, set 'save to' destination.

ETA

Open finder, select applications, then open the utilities folder to find screenshot.

@joyR

That seems to work. Thanks.

I just spent well over an hour (probably more) with an Apple Tech who did all kinds of stuff that didn't work. Then she connected me to a senior tech guy who couldn't fix it. He was about to reinstall the OS but couldn't because my power button is broken and I needed to hold down the command/option and PR after hitting the power button (which I couldn't do since the power button is broken - I power up by lifting the lid).

Thanks again.
