The Swarm Cycle is a collection of stories written around a concept introduced by the Thinking Horndog about an alien invasion and Earth's reaction to it. The intent is for it to be a public, multi-author universe after the fashion of the popular Naked in School stories. The Sa'arm, a tripedal race with some physical resemblance to a cross between a mushroom and a lizard but with a hive mind, is sweeping across this galactic arm toward the center. They communicate by some sort of ESP, and ignore any race that does not. In their path is the Confederacy, a Galactic civilization that universally practices nonviolence -- and Earth... Two things bother me about the Swarm cycle universe:
Being a loner sociopath seems to give a high CAP score:
Notice how quickly those with a high score abandon all those they care about to save their own lives.
Notice how many of them care about no one in their lives.
Would you want to trust them beside you in a military unit?
The number of high CAP score people forced to leave behind all the people they care about to be eaten (but they do get some random bar flies as compensation). Volunteer? Voluntold!
Why would you trust people you put into that situation with weapons? When the British navy press-ganged men they knew better than to trust them.
I'd like to see a new universe.
A nasty species is sweeping relentlessly across the universe, exterminating all other sentient life. An advanced race of extremely intelligent, pacifist, non-organic life-forms recognises that it has to act. It recruits humans to do the dirty work but recognises that males are far too volatile and aggressive to be in charge, so women are given all the leadership roles.

.... and the women would go in asking the aliens Why can't we all just get along? and be killed.
Then the men, (those whom women have always kept around to kill spiders and do the heavy lifting) would step in and deal with the alien problem.
Angela Merkel would invite the nasties to colonise Earth.
Margaret Thatcher would do nothing until the nasties started invading, then nuke the bastards even though it would leave much of our planet uninhabitable.
Theresa May would sign a treaty under which the nasties would limit themselves to only eating two-thirds of every human.

Maybe if you didn't induce the spiders to shit but moved them out of the house, she'd have been satisfied.
