Include a few buyers in reviewing the rough site. They can give you a lot of useful feedback about their point of view.

There isn't much to test with yet. We start with the authors, they submit some books, we test the admin with it and then when the books are in the database we test the buyers sections with it.
So, such a beta will be coming once we're done testing the author section and admin section.
I understand that is for a later stage. I didn't intend to make it sound like "NOW!" ;)
A suggestion: also offer the SOL html zip format as a possible format option besides epub, pdf, etc.
(an option for authors to offer that format)
All my novels currently for sale are enrolled in Amazon's Select program. That program requires them to be exclusive to Amazon so I don't have anything to test the system with. My work-in-progress novel is still a ways off. Sorry.
Laz, what exactly are you looking for?
Do we need a specific format?
Do we have to have a book for sale on a different site?
Do you just want a short story that can be posted for a trail sale?
How will pricing work?
How will feedback work?
If you want, I have a 20k story, that has not been to my cleaners yet, but still finsihed that I am willing to offer for your testing and allow you to price it for pennies for test purposes.
What I need is testers willing to provide feedback. The site is alpha quality and I need feedback on the book submission mechanism that I create to see if it makes sense to authors because as a programmer, what makes sense to me may not make sense to normal/creative people.
Whatever gets submitted during the test won't actually be on the site when it launches. Once the site is ready for business (even if not fully finished) I'll let authors ad all their books before we go live with sales.
What's needed is an EPUB file at minimum (.mobi and .pdf are supported but optional) and a suitable cover image.

In that case my concern is unfounded for me. Of course I'll help you test after all you've done for us.
*blush, I have a distinct lack of cover images...
and fortunately/ unfortunately, I am moving into my new house in two days, so have little time to make one right now.
Still, I will see what I can do for you. I might be able to just steal one from the open web.
Give me a bit of time.
