Sorry, I can't get into that one. I've actually only seen a couple of stories that mention penetrating the cervix. I think that that would be extremely painful, and not just for the woman.

If the Internet is to be trusted (and why not?) all of the non-porn references I've seen say exactly that: painful for both parties, but especially for the woman.

IIRC there was a story a decade or so about porn actresses having their cervices surgically opened up. I never heard any follow-up but I would have thought there was a significant danger to the women's health and fertility from infections.

I'll buy answer 2, but I highly doubt they use special effects in porn to any believable degree. When you watch sci fi movies and you see special effects, you can always tell the difference between cgi and reality.

I guess I don't understand the comparison. I was suggesting that I wouldn't want to see a snuff film because I could never unsee it again. I'm glad they're illegal and I don't have to worry about accidentally stumbling onto one. I don't really care whether advertising tobacco products is legal or not. I understand that making it illegal is a freedom of speech infringement, but personally (as a previous smoker for thirty years) I don't mind that the idea of smoking is no longer being glorified to our youth.

Chris, snuff is a tobacco product that is sniffed. Often mixed with talcum powder and other things. It's been out of fashion since the late 1800s. I can't understand why they'd make a film about sniffing tobacco, let alone make it illegal. It's use has been shown in several period films set in the 16th to 19th centuries.

If it was a joke, it flew over my head. lol He didn't even use the word snuff in the original reply, so I thought he was just changing the topic to tobacco products and comparing the illegality of it. If he meant it as a joke, I just totally missed that it was supposed to be that.

You're probably right about that. During the Napoleonic era when people in Britain talked about taking a pinch they usually meant snuff (tobacco mixed with powder) while in the USA they usually meant some poor girl's posterior.

It must be a generational thing, because I got Ernest's pun right away (though they also refer to chewing tobacco as 'snuff', which is still in widespread use in certain regions).

When the discussions start getting overly serious, a little humor makes it easier to manage, though it's also a sign the topic is about exhausted.

In the American south (mostly southeast and southern midwest) it's sold in metal tins, where you take a 'pinch' and stick it in your gums. However, they're sold as 'snuff' (in some places). I never figured out how they arrived at that term, as it doesn't seem to be historically accurate.

Back when I was young, you couldn't walk across a parking lot without 30 to 40% of the surface consisting a spat tobacco juice. I bought a friend a tiny ceramic spitoon as a joke. It was his favorite present, and he kept it on his dashboard (in his "pickup") for at least a decade, if not more.

I remember from the 1940s a product call "snuff" that was sold in small round boxes. A small "pinch" was placed between the gum and cheek and simply allowed to sit there while the active ingredients were absorbed. A wad of something was spat out when the pinch was used up, and a new pinch was put in its place. The elderly Black woman who was the cook for our home used the snuff religiously.

I was a relatively small child then, so I did not know anyone else who used snuff, but I remember seeing it on the shelf of the general store where my grandmother traded. There were a number of brands.

That type of snuff is very popular around here. Copenhagen is the leading brand. When I was in the 8th grade (almost prehistoric times) our gym teacher, Mr. Turner, used Copenhagen snuff. He carried the round can in his back pocket. I remember that it actually made a round wear mark on the pocket. Of course, several of us boys decided we had to try this stuff. Anyone big enough to reach over the counter could buy tobacco then, so we all got a can each and decided we were going to be manly men like Mr. Turner. Well, nobody told us not to swallow the saliva produced....

Is that what you thought I meant by snuff film? lol It wasn't. JohnBobMead had my intentions correct. What I wouldn't want to see, because I could never unsee it again, is a sex film where one of the participants kills the other as the conclusion. I would never want to see that, because it is something I could never get out of my head.
