A puzzle ...
In my earlier stories, I used xxxxxxxxxx to indicate section changes. When posted, it appeared as ------- a solid line between paragraphs.
But in my current effort -- "Winter's Game" -- the ten x's are printed as, well, ten x's. And rather than appearing between sections, they're just tagged on at the end of a sentence.
No biggie, but ... is there a way to correct this?

The last thing is Horizontal rules, any combination of '-' (dash), '=' (equal), '*' (asterisk), '_' (underscore), '@', '#', '~' (tilde), '+', '•' (bullet), 'x' and '—' (m-dash) — without the quotes) —On a line of their own— will be converted to a horizontal rule.
That is it for plain text formatting.

Sounds like they weren't on a line by themselves.
They not only need to be on a line "by themselves," they need to be on a line separated from the other lines by blank spaces.
SB probably knows this, but it should be expressed to communicate with anyone having problems.

You didn't leave enough space between the xxxx and the previous paragraph.
If it were dashes that you used, one return would work but with xxxxs it's letters and may be text, so they're not automatically converted.
Either use asterisks, dashes etc, or put the xxxs in a clearly defined paragraph.
I have always used ++++++ (six plus signs) on a line by themselves, with a blank line above and below. Never had a problem....
I'm really upset, Paige. I thought xxxxxxxxx meant you were sending me kisses! What a disappointment!
