While (whilst?) we're on the subject of words/language, here's a jewel from today's news:

"a mass streamlining to unlock the organization's operational efficiency by deploying scalable city level frameworks."

Which is corporate HR obfuscation for "we're firing a bunch of workers and closing some offices."

In this case, a company founder sent to deliver the bad news found himself locked in the office, hostage, while the angry employees gathered outside to plot how to get the severance payment due them.

Seems there's no limit to the torture ('enhanced rendition') inflicted upon our language when those in power fear revealing their motives in plain words.

In those terms, "corporate speak" doesn't hold a candle to "political speak" The average politician can blow 7k-8k words saying nothing at all.

Will Rogers said "When Congress makes a law its a joke, and when they make a joke, its a law."

In the context of why he would never run out of material for his humor.
