Scifi Stores site

Lumpy ๐Ÿšซ

I just noticed a third site (probably been around for a while, but I just noticed it) called scifistories.com.

My current sci-fi story is already posted to storiesonline and finestories (with some alteration). Is it worth publishing the same story on yet another one of these sites? Is there any reader base that is there and not on fine stories or stories online?

Yes, there is. Not sure how big it is, but there are some readers who prefer to read via that site, just as there are some on Fine Stories who aren't on SoL. SciFi Stories accepts the stories with sex content, so the same as the one on SoL is good there, or you can use the FS amended one if you want to.

Probably like the finestories site it will take time to build up the reader base. But since its a dedicated genre site and your story fits that genre. Posting the story there would definitely probably increase the number of readers. My guess for what its worth is the same version you posted on finestories would work there. Both sites are setup to allow the entire family to read stories. But since its the newest site it will take time to build up the active readers.

edited: opps according to Ernest's post it appears my guess was wrong. Won't be the last mistake I make.

The site rules allows for either. From Rule 9 - Restrictions: While SciFi-Stories allows adult contents, your work (stories, poems or blog entries) may not contain characters younger than 14 having sex or being in sexual situations (masturbation and nudism are not allowed). In other words, all characters that engage in any sexual activity must be 14 or older.

I cross post all stories that are suitable for the other sites, thus there are some I post on all 3 sites. From feedback emails I know there are people who read one site and not the other, so there is a slight increase in readers across the sites. Also, some readers are on all the sites, but have a preference for one over the other.

For stories on sci-fi, you specify age restrictions for the story, so the author specifies the appropriate ages (for readers) and the readers are expected to follow the guidelines. (I'm not sure whether Lazeez restricts contents based on age or not.)

Thus you can include either X or R-rated stories, but you can also post the 'cleaned up' versions if you think more readers would appreciate those versions.

In terms of readers, the site is MUCH smaller, and much of it's contents are 'out-of-copyright protection' content from the 50s and 60s. As a result, they appreciate the better content, but you won't get as many readers and the scores take a longer time to be 'adjusted' downward. :(

As an alternative, I often either post to FS and Sci-Fi first, or at least provide a few chapters advance on those sites in order to promote the sites.
