File Formats:
File formats accepted for submission of works through the site are: Plain Text (.txt, .asc) and HTML files. (All open formats, no proprietary formats are accepted -- No Word, Wordperfect, MS Works, AppleWorks, or Lotus Word) If you need to submit styled text like italics and bold, convert your document to HTML. All the popular word processors support one of these two.
Some text formatting from your files is retained on the site; also some formatting power is given to you (as long as you use it wisely). Please read the Formatting Guide for more about what you can use and what you can't use and the advantage of each file format and what's retained, depending on which format you use to submit your text. You must check the appropriate box in the submission forms to have your formatting retained; otherwise, all formatting will be stripped from your files.

I'm not sure about Scrivner itself, but be careful when you export to html. Although SOL is pretty good about stripping out unnecessary content, most word processors and writing apps dump a LOT of unnecessary code into their html files. WORD notoriously stores all it's suspected spelling mistakes, just so you can never forget how bad it's spell checker is. It also flags names, for absolutely no purpose, since there's no facility in html to process names.
Many of us who post online, or use the html output to create ebooks, typically review the files first to strip out all the crap that dumps into them. Once you've done this for a while, you typically refine the export settings to turn these 'features' off.

Word is terrible at exporting HTML. Scrivener uses Apple's built in RTF to HTML converter and it produces fairly clean HTML.
