E Book Reader

My 10 year old Kindle Paperwhite is finally on its last legs. It's been a faithful device.

E-pub book formats are (apparently) changing.

Please, recommendations for a replacement device that will allow me to continue to enjoy downloaded stories here on SOL, Amazon native formatted stories, Project Gutenberg and those from Bookapy. Maybe even Baen's books.

I do not wish to engage with any device that also has a browser. I tried one a few years ago and found it too much distraction. I like a plain, no frills, e-book reader.

What's your suggestions? Another Paperwhite or something different?

I use the ebook reader that comes with Calibre. It's free and gets updated when neccessary. I use it on both my desktop and on my tablet. You can also use it to edit ebooks.

Amazon native formatted stories

This criteria here restricts you to a Kindle. Get another kindle paper, they're fairly cheap. I like the one that I have for reading.

There are apps that read the the Kindle formatted books just fine,(I like ReadEra on my Android tablet) but he doesn't want a device with a browser so that leaves them out.

I am hoping someone suggests something like a reader with a long battery life like my Kindle, and with better control over menu fonts like on my Android (not story, MENU font size).

Most Kobo's seem to support it too although with a workaround:
