I mention in the title that this blog entry may contain a minor spoiler. I added that just in case anybody thinks that what I say about the story may be considered as such.
Quitting is actually two stories in one, but you need to ask yourself some questions in order to figure out the second story.
I had two goals in mind for this story.
The first goal was to once again explore hypnosis, and make those parts of the story believable. The only other story I wrote that uses hypnosis was Weight Loss Program, but I wanted to try a second take that makes it a plot point, but not make it seem as if it was the main plot of the story. I know next to nothing about hypnosis and for sake of getting the story out, I didn't do much research into it at all. So, do not go into this story thinking that anything I say about the subject is definitive. This is fiction and is not clinical research.
The second objective was to compose something in the romantic style of the Tickets series and determine if I could accomplish it once more after almost thirty years without leaving any dangling plot points.
Anyway, Quitting was written as a chapter story, but is presented here as a short story. This is just an experimental approach for me. If you have any feelings about whether this would work better as a chapter story, or if the "long short-story" format works for this one, let me know.
I really hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
And, please, consider letting me know what you think about the story, good or bad. Feedback is the only payment I receive.
Peace!
