I’ve reposted my final (really final!) version of Quitting. I found a number of issues when rereading my story on the site.
First: Do you need to reread the story again? No!
Second: Will you want to reread the story again? Not really.
The new story may or may not be up. The date on the original version of the story is October 29, 2026. The new version should have a date of October 30, 2026.
Issues corrected:
- At the very start of the story, I mention that “Fred and I” were at a party, and referring to him as Jeff everywhere else. (Incomplete character name change.)
- Suzi puts on clothes after her first “sex” scene twice. (Continuity)
- I use a phrase with Hayley early in the story, and another character uses the same phrase near the end of the story. The phrase was supposed to be unique, so I rewrote the first usage.
- There is a weird reference to Jamie in the third-person: “Jamie said” should be “I said” instead.
- Some word choices were incorrect (minor nits but glaring to me).
- Usage of “Dom” where “dom” is actually the correct usage.
- A phrase Sue says references something she hadn’t yet experienced. (Continuity)
- In a few bits of dialog, it was unclear who was talking, so I added wording to explain who was saying it.
- In the “Final Thoughts” section, there was supposed to be a mention of Jeff, which seems to have gotten lost. I looked through past revisions, and found that missing scene and re-added all nine paragraphs. (This is the largest edit of them all)
All in all, the new version is very similar to the original version, with the exception of the new paragraphs near the end, so it isn't mandatory to reread it unless you want to see the missing scene. Technically, the new version is a bit better, but not by much.
I have no intentions of doing any more editing for this story, so feel free to (re-)download it if you want it, but it really isn't that necessary.
Peace!
