A former editor for WIRED magazine explained how he evaluated stories for his publication.
He told his writers, “If you describe your story to friends at a cocktail party, will they be interested in it? Also, can they visualize it? Not as a screenwriter would, but is there going to be a little movie playing in the theater of their mind?”
