Hello readers,
Been a couple of weeks since my last blog, sorry I haven't had the time to post one. Truthfully, the past few weeks I've been struggling to write at all but those things happen; don't worry, this isn't a 'I'm quitting' blog :).
What I am looking for though is some feedback regarding Jane Finds Herself. As long time readers know, I typically post stories in blocks of 5 (5 weeks on and then 5 weeks off with a different story). With Jane of late, since chapter 11, I've decided to let it ride and continue the story week to week. I saw great growth in views and increasing scores each week, and overall, it felt like people were happy with the story. Now though, those views have plummeted and the score drops every week. I'm fine with the ebb and flow of that, those things happen, but I am starting to wonder if Jane Finds Herself has grown too long in the tooth, as they say.
It is miles longer than anything I've ever written before and maybe I'm not skilled enough to write to this length yet. Maybe the scenario has worn out and people don't really care, I don't know. That's what I'm here asking for today. Should I wrap this story up and move on to something else? In the interest of transparency, I admit I finished writing chapter 28 this week, so you know how far ahead I am in writing. The holidays are rough on time for both myself and my editor, so I wanted to really get ahead on things to give us both a break. But yeah, should I push towards an ending quickly or are you still enjoying things?
Main Questions:
1) Are you still enjoying Jane Finds Herself?
If you aren't, where did I lose you?
2) Should I conclude the story or keep going with what was planned?
As for my other current story, Family Reunion, not much to say about it. It is doing ok. Reception to it seems muted, and that's ok. Not everything is going to take off. It'll finish off before Christmas and I hope people like the ending. It is a 'low sex' story, so I know it isn't exactly what people expect from me. I like to try different things and they don't all work out.
Last thing I'd like to ask is, are you getting sick of my writing? That sounds like a weird question, I know, but having been a reader for decades now, I know authors get repetitive and tiring after a while. You know the sentence structure they use, where sex scenes will be, and how they'll play out. It just loses its punch. I wonder if I'm getting there with many of you. If so, I can try to change up my style or something. Try writing something very 'out of pocket' for me. Again, just looking for overall feedback on this type of thing.
If you've made it this far, thank you for reading all this. I would love to hear your thoughts, so reach out via the email button. I'll try to respond when I can.
Have a great week,
