I'm sorry to say that my dad died yesterday!
It went so fast the past few weeks, from getting the diagnosis to passing away yesterday.
Every day, I saw something chipped away from him.
First, his appetite, then his mobility, and finally, his mind because he needed too many painkillers to control the pain.
The palliative care team did their utmost to make him as comfortable as they could, and I am truly grateful to them for this.
But, eventually, he gave up and passed away yesterday morning. While it is sad, I'm also happy that he isn't suffering anymore.
To everyone who contacted me after my previous post, thank you. Your words helped me to go on and do my best to keep my dad as comfortable and cared for as possible.
He will be buried next Tuesday, and then the paperwork will start to get everything in order. It's strange to say this. We are living in a high-tech world, but something like this still needs so much paperwork instead of them just passing along information between systems digitally.
Of course, as you can guess, this means I won't be writing any stories for a couple of weeks. I hope I will be feeling better early next year, and I promise that the moment I feel up to it, I'll start writing again. I still feel eager to get the stories out of my head as soon as possible, but for now, I need some time to recover from this loss.
